There’s an old saying that all mankind is divided into three classes: those that are immovable, those that are movable, and those that move. Electronic music fans are inherently a nation of the latter and Mircea Ivan has made it his mission to prevent them from ever straying away from the electronic groove... So who is this growingly acclaimed member of the Romanian Dance Scene? What are his musical addictions and what does he have to prove?A self-proclaimed skeptic when it comes to DJ schools, yet strong devotee of extended studio hours and crowd-ignited inspiration Mircea had his first true encounter with house back when his song selections animated the get-togethers of many teenage, Bucharest party seekers. Slowly but surely, Ivan refined his personal style and powered his ambition and within no time, the Romanian Clubbing scene would begin embracing a cinematic mix of techno and progressive all under the name of Mircea Ivan. Places that initially got a taste of the daring and electric sets included house music hot spots such as Studio Martin, Kristal Glam Club, Silver, The Moose, Xen, Sesto Senso, Fat Cat and Oxygen in Bucharest as well as Bulgarian summer hang- outs, "La Playa" and "Lifehouse".The best way to describe his style? Most would agree it’s “raising the bar”. Mircea is a perfectionist and tireless critic of his own work – two traits that have continued to fuel his ascension for over a decade. Talent, he says, is never enough. It is only continued effort that renders mixes with the power to provoke. On a timeline, confirmations of his presence & influence are many. 2010, for example, brought with it a featured Monday night show on ProFM Dance called “Housaround” and a nominalization at the “Nights.ro” awards in the “best breakthrough DJ” category.Next, 2011 took his hosting to a wholly different level, as Ivan continued the newly-branded DanceFM revolution from the studio via a 3-hour drive time, daily show and the “usual” play-list trimming. In addition, Ivan’s take-home mix series “Sunrise Boulevard” was extremely well received and served as a playground for continued experimentation throughout 2012, reaching a stunning 25 editions + the release of a “Best of”. On the project side, ‘Phonic’ and ‘The longest journey’ are two releases worth mentioning and savoring.Added to this are dozens of songs and remixes in collaboration with Peter Zaad (e.g.Ashley Red - Come back home, Sander van Doorn - Koko & the classic,Axwell & Steve Edwards - Watch the Sunrise) as well as international music festival anthems (India and exotic Marrakech, Morocco among others). So what’s being “squeezed” nowadays into his portfolio? An exciting debut album of course with the help of the Perfekt Records crew. The first single is titled “5 sins”, and was featured on the VA From Perfekt to Miami 2013, a compilation launched around the Winter Music Conference and Ultra Miami (both, 2013 editions).Mircea crosses his heart (and power cords!) that plenty of new tracks and collaborations will follow in 2013 now that the new studio is refurbished & ready! Digital DJing (or the no-more-CD-players movement) in the new way to go and so is intention of reaching many more techno and tech house aficionados through the airwaves (current count: 300 shows on Dance FM).So keep our eyes, ears and travel destinations open - Mircea Ivan is now present on all major digital stores: iTunes, Beatport, Juno and Trackitdown and intends to take his concerts abroad!
