Originally part of the "Meteoritenschauer" EP, in tandem with Ben Mautner's striking artwork, "Paarung" was a delightfully modern tech house offering. Now returning to Particles via a remix from an Argentinean underground producer, David Calo's reworking of the track provides a strong bass-oriented offering that ripples through the upper frequencies via a ticking percussive section and delayed rhythmic groove. Echoes of Sturm's melodic context can be heard through sustained atmospheric pads in an innovative new work. Fresh from his work for Clinique, Axon and BQ, UK producer, Robin Thurston follows up an appearance on "Summer Particles 2014" with another original track in, "Cura Brochero". Evolving elegantly over eight minutes, a deep, rich bass line provides a strong emotive feel as ethereal chord progressions swim enticingly atop. Rhythmic prowess is then found in hypnotic chord stab and intricate percussive cadence.
Hitting his stride in inimitable fashion, UAE based artist and accomplished DJ, Subandrio, has laid out a successful path in his production work for the likes of Juicebox, Dopamine and Flow Vinyl, in 2016. Continuing with his distinctive tech house vibes, "Black Box Between", illustrates a rich and varied rhythmic structure that hypnotises in its use of open hi-hats and clever percussive effects. Delicious melodies float across the breakdown into the third movement in an exciting work. Australian, GMJ, is another artist with a strong showing in 2016 thus far, both in solo and collaborative work. Continuing his excellent production style, "Intimation" establishes itself with rich bass groove and rolling percussive groove as cleverly placed melodic riffs and counterpoint pad sequences combine to create a multi-layered offering full of poise.
Russian artist, Rise And Fall, is another producer with an impressive 2016 to his name. A regular on the Bonzai Progressive imprint, the original track "The Vision" forms a centerpiece to Rise And Fall's work on Particles, now supplemented by the techno infused "Traffic Lights". Moving forward at quick-fire pace, a strong beat and trademark rhythm section combine with a collage of melodic phrases and effects that pan the stereo spectrum in dizzying glory to create a diverse track. Gabor Kaszas needs little in the way of introduction when seen through the lens of his East Café moniker. An artist who has been at the forefront of the progressive house and breaks scene for almost a decade, East Café is represented here with "False Visions". A typically evocative offering, dynamic rhythms and delicious melodies vie for attention in an uptempo offering that radiates quality and poise through carefully placed key changes and subtle rhythmic shifts. The result is a highly impressive offering.
Part of the highly-regarded "A1Txi" EP, Karl Johan's C9 soubriquet was a joy to behold on Proton Music in 2015. French artist, Rick Pier O'Neil, originally part of the remix EP for the "A1T8i" spinoff, now returns to the track with a stylish 'Particles Mix' that references the melodic and bass themes of his first offering, providing a deeper more contemplative offering than heard first time around. A seismic kick, shuffling percussion and intermittent snare rolls still continue to supply dance floor credentials in an intelligent new interpretation of C9's work.
A harvest moon shines brightly on seven shimmering new productions as "Fall Particles 2016" illuminates autumn once more.
