Surrounded by drum beats whilst growing up, Valpy has developed a raw passion for music from an early age, originally cutting his teeth on the European scene in destinations such as Amsterdam and Ibiza. It was in Ibiza where he found his love for various forms of House & Techno, after many nights spent at super clubs like Amnesia, DC10 and Space listening to world class DJ's such as Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Sasha, Matthias Tanzmann and Nick Curly. This is where he grew closer to the sound of deep tribal house and techno more than ever before. This strongly influenced him to begin stock piling his music collection based on these styles, purchasing vinyl from labels such as Intec, Ascend, Cocoon, Drumcode and many white labels, moulding his sound of today.
A turning point came when at a memorable event at Fabric in London (2002) when Craig Richards, Slam & Xpress2 played live for World DJ Day, where he experienced mind bending music that would pave the way for the future of the genre leaning more towards the sounds of techno music – deeper, darker and more minimal.
After several more seasons on the white isle, the scene there changed, becoming a lot tougher and darker and so did his influences, where he began to draw inspiration from renowned artists like Marco Carola, Adam Beyer, Pig & Dan, Joseph Capriati and more recently Carlo Lio, Harvey Mckay, Proudly People and Bollen & Fichtner.
Taking these mind blowing influences and ideas he experimented with sound, becoming fascinated with pitch and bass, which starting a long process evolving and moulding his sound over time resulting in his unique sound today. Aiming to produce music he wants to hear on the same dance floors that he frequented over the years, straight up and delivering every time!
Now sitting comfortably within his sound of deep, minimal techno and house, his work has recently come to light with several releases under his belt. Having had tracks recently featured on European labels such as Germany's Tellermotion, the Spanish imprint of K. Productions and also forthcoming work lined up for London and Prague based Seva Records for 2014.
A versatile producer with no limits or boundaries, watch this space for future releases...
