Motives is the moniker of rising Washington, DC-based producer/DJ Ben Kane. Since breaking into the progressive scene in late 2020 with his 'Solace' EP (PRGRSSN Records), his music has enjoyed support from respected names such as Above & Beyond, Gabriel & Dresden, Le Youth, EDX, and David Hohme. His remix of Le Youth's 'Miraje' (Anjunabeats) charted in the Top 10 trance releases on Beatport, was featured on Above & Beyond's legendary Group Therapy broadcast, and earned him a guest mix on Anjunabeats Worldwide (#734).
He maintained a torrid pace through the back-half of 2021, releasing a follow-up EP 'Spaces' on PRGRSSN; showcasing his deeper progressive touch with 'Tribes / Emotion' (Songspire); and unleashing collaborations with budding stars Morgin Madison (Colorize) and Leossa (PRGRSSN).
A lifelong musician and electronic music fan, he draws inspiration from all corners of house, techno and beyond; from progressive titans like Lane 8, Yotto and Pryda, to the myriad tastemakers that make up DC's immersive underground music scene.
