Yanik Coen, a name associated with quality music & DJ sets for over a decade, has had humble beginnings in his hometown of Montreal, Canada in 2005 where he quickly made his presence felt as a promising talent, performing alongside the biggest names in Dance music and ultimately outshining most. Needless to say that his unique skills behind the decks weren't overlooked. After being advised by his mentors to tackle music making, his productions attracted legendary House labels such as Strictly Rhythm and Armada. But 2012 was a pivotal year in Yanik’s career, signing his hit single “Throw Your Handz Up” to Erick Morillo’s Subliminal Records. The record ended up becoming a Subliminal & Pacha Ibiza anthem and allowed him to tour Europe for the first time. Shortly after that, he moved to Miami, a city in which he had experienced some incredible moments during the WMC era. A city where he truly felt his sound belonged, and he wasn’t wrong. Yanik rapidly went on to dominate the scene and became one of the most influential DJs in the US, co-creating arguably one of the country’s most iconic weekly parties of the last 2 decades. He has now established himself as a respected figure in the community and has helped slingshotting House music back to the forefront of Miami nightlife. Which was a mission of his from day one. His focus is now set on running his brand and label "Not Everyone Understands". Over the years, he has developed a very unique sound and has been able to showcase it in both upscale and underground venues around the world. Sexy, vocal and percussion driven, his energy can be recognized as soon as he hits the decks. With experience very few can boast about, Yanik has become known for his versatility and incomparable music knowledge. His ability to adapt on the fly and control the atmosphere/crowd is second to none.
