After the success of the Eitan Reiter album, Guy J's Armadillo Records returns with another stunning long-player from Subtales called 'Through the Aquatic Blossom of Dreams'.? Subtales began creating electronic music in 2003. Experimental at the time, he soon won the attention of the scenes elite with solid productions charting high on Beatport and being championed by pioneers such as Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo and Guy himself. Very much a modern purveyor of progressive house, his productions regularly bend the rigidity of genre boundaries and excite an ever-growing core fanbase.? Featuring 8 tracks of post-club wind down electronica, Through the Aquatic Blossom of Dreams is a cleverly constructed, perfectly-paced exploration into twenty-first century chillout. Opening with 'Quantumatic' lazy drones transform shape creating a feeling of calm and warmth. 'Rododendron' uses the juxtaposition of abrasive percussive tones to playfully work against the smooth Spanish guitar main line and floaty pads. 'Above the Trees' begins with the ghostly sounds of far away voices before the track opens up into full piano chiller. Finally, 'Dissymetrizing' dizzys the senses with panned effects and cool pads.? Masterful and restrained in equal measures, this is very much the sound of an artist at the peak of their craft having the time of their lives. And when the time comes to reach for something to soundtrack some downtime this is the perfect choice. ? ?
