Earlier this Summer Plant dropped one of the standout records of the year, Eli Escobars Love Thing featuring a singing Amanda Blank. Almost immediately, this record became a classic, received with heavy enthusiasm by a whos who of djs across the dance music spectrum. Counting its supporters were Nu-Disco big shots Holy Ghost!, Jacques Renault and Classixx; House heavies Nacho Lovers and Shir Khan; Londons highly influential Sinden; Ed Banger don daddas Busy P and DJ Mehdi; Sound Pellegrino honcho Teki Latex; and club superstar Armand van Helden. While Mr. Escobar readies the world for his next EP, Plant is dropping the Love Thing Remixes. Included are five versions, all of which have received the Escobar stamp of approval. First up is the John Selway Endless Dub of Love Thing (Part 1) which takes us on a long journey to the underground. Then, Runaway, with one foot in the present and one in the past, cook up some house, but keep it deep. Love Thing (Part 3) which features the vocals of Amanda Blank, gets reworked by the man behind Italians Do It Better, Mike Simonetti, who doesnt bless the world with remixes very often. He doubles the melancholy of the original with lush synths and reserved drums, reminding us of when dance music could be both haunting and dj-friendly. Also included is the stellar DJ Mehdi remix as well as Eli Escobars own rework of Part 1.
