You think Isis is a newbie ? Far from it. Here's a quick lesson in modern history:
In 2008 a Nigerian born, Toronto raised MC propelled into the spotlight. What started out as an accidental MP3 file exchange, between two artists on Myspace, marked the beginning of the global dance-dominating duo Thunderheist. The young lady leading this new Electro-Rap revolution was no other than Isis Salam.
Thunderheist brought a singular and radical sound to the electronic music scene. Instantly gained respect from their peers Isis had the opportunity to collaborate with musical heavy-weights MSTRKRFT, Junky XL and Alixander III of Azari III. In 2009, break-through performances with Noreaga on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Perez Hiltons SXSW Showcase supporting Kanye West launched her up into the stratosphere.
In 2014 ISIS SALAM is back with a vengeance! Berlin Style!
Imagine the love child of Gil Scott Heron and Ru Paul's wig, witty fierceness on two legs dropping the punchlines deserving of their own hashtags! ISIS SALAM donned her thinking hat, locked herself in the studio and came back with a sound embracing her inner black diva while her alter ego THE VELVET CRUISADER's rhymes would make Slick Rick "the ruler" himself proud.
This April, her first single Let Go (a collaboration with the production team Kruse&Nuernberg) will be released on Berlin heavy-hitters Exploited Records and comes in a salacious remix package that will leave you stunned thanks to flavors for everyone's musical sweet spot, whether you're an old-school heavy house head or a fanatic fist-pumping indie dance kid.
ISIS SALAM's live set is a pure on-stage evolution: opening with deep-breathing, bass- heavy house; it morphs into sexified nu-disco; before growing into a full-blown dance party.
She is accompanied on stage by DJ Alley Oop (originally from Australia and now settled in Berlin), who controls the knobs, as well as two Tasmanian dancing devils who dazzle with their sweetest 90s house dance style that will leave no questions unanswered. This is H-to-T entertainment, ladies and gentlemen: spotlight on, mic check 1-2, singing, dancing, rapping, tap dancing, wrapped in devilish charm. People in the front row might get groped. It is recommended you leave your inhibitions at the door.
