The new single from Freaks, 'Wake Up, will be released with an excellent reworking from Berlin / Swiss production duo Oliver $ & Jimi Jules as well as an awesome Jack The Box remix. Luke Solomon and Justin Harris, team up with long time fellow Freak, Diz Washington aka 012 to deliver a remake of the classic Ian Dury and The Blockheadz track Wake Up And Make Love To Me. Written by Ian Dury and Chaz Jankel and recorded in 1977, Freaks came up with the idea of covering it after hearing Diz casually singing it one morning before a studio session. I come awake with the gift for womankind. You're still asleep but the gift dont seem to mind Rise on this occasion halfway up your back Sliding down your body, touching your behind....... Wake up and make love to me.....wake up' It originally started it's Freaks journey back in 2000 and has been re-recorded with strings, bass and guitar business from Johnny Rock, then mutated, re-generated, transformed and re-formed to come to this release. And fresh from the success of their Defected release, Pushing On, Oliver $ & Jimi Jules took up the remix mantle and delivered a 100%% infectious remix. Working up Diz soulful vocal as only they know how and merging it with a funk fuelled bassline and percussive melody to create a track that will undoubtedly be the sound of summer. Also on remix duties are Hip House founding father, Tyree Cooper & British house producer Bobby Starrr aka Jack The Box. Having been a coveted secret of Berlins underground house scene for years, Jack The Box released their long awaited debut album Side A in 2013 and here they drop a strong deep house version fusing the warm deep vibe of Diz voice with a Chicago inspired sound. Freaks also delight us with a couple of extra bonus mixes for the release. Its a strong package for summer 2014. Wake Up and Play It Loud.
