How many artists can claim to have absorbed and assimilated great swathes of western music history? Camea Hoffmann, who has classical training in several instruments, a grunge-rock background and globally acclaimed DJ skills, is one such artist. Born in Seattle, Camea first departed from the realm of Chopin and Miles
Davis to develop her DJ and producer talents in association with Clink Records in Brooklyn, New York and Berlin. Her much-lauded sets in Berghain, Club der Visionäre and Watergate are complemented by her inspired remixes for Minus, Clink, Soma,
Get Physical and BPitch. In 2011 Camea became the first ever female artist to have music featured on Plus 8 Records.
Her current EP is also her first own release on BPC. Each and every second of City Watch Over Me lives and breathes the urban surroundings of New York City and Berlin. The energy-laden tech-house beats provide the driving force for heavyweight
basslines, marvelous sound structures and suggestive house fragments. All this accompanied by minimal melodies that - rather than making you want to hum along - glisten enchantingly in the darkness. City Watch Over Me is a work of extraordinary
intensity, reduced to the point of perfect coherence.
