Kid Fonque aka Allan Nicoll has played a vital role in South African electronic music and club culture over the last 20 years, trending from DJ to promoter and producer to a career as label manager and radio and TV host. He made his DJ debut at the legendary 206 ov er twenty years ago, and has since DJed alongside Gilles Peterson, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Tom Misch, Bonobo, Skepta, Henrik Schwarz, Âme, Rich Medina and more over the years ... He founded the Stay True Sounds label in 2015, and its key artists include Fka Mas h, Dwson, Jazzuelle, Zito Mowa, China Charmeleon and Sio. In 2019, he launched sister label STY TRU BTS to showcase South African beats, soul, hip - hop and electronica.
