Hot Waves, My Favourite Robot and Outcross artist Sean Roman drops the very first release for new London-based imprint Feast Records, backed with remixes from MANIK and Waifs & Strays.
Feast Records was spawned from monthly parties of the same name at London’s 93 Feet East, where the likes of Lee Foss, Robert James, DJ T and Crazy P have all graced the bills. The label is a direct continuation of works at the night and is driven by Jamie Ward and Liam Webb.
Opening track ‘Moan’ kicks off the EP with psychedelic synths, a simple yet effective electronic bass hook and an auto-tuned vocal murmuring ‘’You’’ throughout while ‘Bocuse’ slows down the pace a little but with quick hitting synth melodies and a deep sub bass line.
MANIK builds on 2010’s success with his remix of ‘Moan’. Drawing on a wealth of bastardized sub-genres the New York producer/dj uses aggressive bass to great effect while maintaining the groove of the original while adding additional textures throughout.
Hotly tipped artists Waifs & Stays provide the second remix on the release to close the EP. A classic sounding remix with touches of contemporary fixes, it’s a version that uses the stunning Korg M1 organ present beloved of many a US House/Garage producer as it was intended.
