It feels just yesterday that Riccicomoto put out his debut album 'Porn Fiction' on Lucidflow. Now 'Terminus Noir', Enrico Regini's follow up to the 2014 issuing, is showing all the signs of telling an even more compelling tale. Those core motifs of jazz, soul, funk and dub honed into a soundtrack-y experience, drenched in atmosphere are present once again. We are happy to announce that, in a moment of "do you want the good news or the bad news, oh there is only good news" joy, you can experience five tracks of 'Terminus Noir' in advance of its full release in an EP sampler pack. You are really being treated too. Title track 'Terminus Noir', which would usually be found in second place in the album's running order, is a stunning introduction. Peer beyond the subtle slow and steady kick that underpins the track and you'll pick up notes from the golden 50s60s crossover period, where Big Band and spy thrillers rubbed up against pulpy sci-fi.Also selected for this sampler is 'Dedalus', which moves into more club orientated tempos. However the mood here is stormy thanks to a chord texture that pulses through the sky, with jazzy Rhodes keys conjuring the image of a summer storm, fleeting but full of intensity.'About U' intriguingly features a vocal that feels like it is communicating from the other side of a spectral veil. It is intricately programmed - beatboxing, sci-fi string and bass swells, tip-toeing jazz flourishes and tweezer placed beats, all exist in perfect harmony on the soundstage. Soaring into the clouds towards the sun is 'Icarus', featuring post-dubstep vocals right out of the Burial playbook but going for piano led euphoria rather than doom laden urban dystopia. The final track making the selection is 'Oohps', doing classic dub techniques with its half tempo and double time elements creating the juxtaposition of languidity and urgency. Again we see the usage of pulpy spy strings and brass tones to really take you back to that golden era of film. The 'Terminus Noir' sampler will be available in 1st May with the full LP to be announced in the future.Jumping straight in, 'Angel' (featuring Clarice) marries the unusual coupling of a Moroder-esque electro-disco workout and heartfelt blues vocals. It is a heady concoction that is adept at holding a dancefloor in its palm or soundtracking your morning's headphone commute. 'Transatlantico' channels the strains of West Coast deep house, evoking memories of classic Charles Webster or the Guidance Records imprint. The percussion track is snappy however the melodic elements draped over the top are velvet smooth. 'We Do What She Wants' then harkens back to the mood of the debut album, with the house groove sliding alongside the sounds of 50's cinema, the classic era of sci-fi and mystery. Jumping straight in, 'Angel' (featuring Clarice) marries the unusual coupling of a Moroder-esque electro-disco workout and ...
