Gabor Kaszas is a hugely respected figure in the underground dance scene and it is through his East Cafe production moniker that he has etched his name in the history of the progressive scene. Extended here, Proton Music is nowdelighted to release "Peaks and Lows" featuring remixes from Colourblock and Jarno.

With almost a double century of production credits to his name, Mistique Music, Morphosis and Stellar Foutain have been amongst the leading labels to further the East Cafe sound. Renowned for a level of "refinement, detail and depth" to his music, support for his work amongst the DJ community's biggest names has been extensive. Thus, Gabor's original East Cafe mix of "Peaks and Lows" is full of the rich, hallmark melodic textures and driving beats that his fans have come to expect, coupled with a deliciously deep and sustained bass line that reverberates its filtered path against emotive lead lines and intricate arpeggios to mesmerising effect.

First to take up remix duties, the Colourblock trio of Lank, Forteba and DJ Stone have forged enviable reputations for themselves in solo guises. Led by Peter Golyan, the Hungarian's Lank moniker is a name that has inspired a galaxy of high-calibre releases across a plethora of leading labels. As a combined force, Colourblock hit the headlines and playlists of such luminaries as Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Marc Poppcke as their debut full-length album "Sky and Fiction" on Proton Music became one of 2012's finest releases of the year. Quickly followed by a remix album that saw the likes of Derek Howell and Rich Curtis reinterpret the Colourblock sound, the trio have applied their own remix credentials in 2013 to classy effect.

Remixing East Cafe, the Colourblock remix sees the trio take a typically fresh and innovative approach to "Peaks and Lows" as a hypnotic beat and pounding bass anchor a melange of textured soundscapes in rhythmic interplay. A rasping low frequency oscillated lead line then slows and increases midway with effortless synchronicity to create a work of poise and skill.

Last to take up the reins, Dutch star Jarno, is a man with a wealth of experience in the world of dance music. A well-respected DJ in his homeland and beyond, over a decade of experience has seen Jarno play a host of high-profile venues and festivals such as Dancevalley and Groovecity as well as a resident for Electronation. A production career that saw Jarno's track "Memories" signed to the prestigious, Rush Hour imprint, saw support from no greater leading lights than Laurent Garnier and Josh Wink while further work for Savoir and Paul Hazendonk's Manual Music has consolidated a reputation.

Taking the bass line so fundamental to East Cafe's original, Jarno has added a metronomic, deep house flavour to "Peaks and Lows" as rhythmic stabs mesh perfectly atop the bass melody. A collage of repetitive motifs and subtle pad textures provide further appeal to create a remix of impressive innovation.

Assured in the knowledge that the "Peaks" will far outnumber the "Lows" with remixes from Colourblock and Jarno, East Cafe has hit the heights on Proton Music.
