Boy Next Door returns to Light my Fire after excursions on Katermukke and a recent remix for Ryan Dupree. Here, on Dirty Love, he refines his signature style of jacking drums, nostalgic rave sounds and punishing grooves even further. While the first track, Coming Down is build around a dominant bass-line and vocal samples, its the piano that drops in around the half-way mark that really steals the show. It may or may not reference a classic 90s house tune. In Dirty Love sharp hi-hats and an ominous rave bass-line are the bedding for elastic synth sounds. The final track, Get Up, is a downbeat master class in disco-funk: a chugging groove and electric guitars make for a great finish.
For the second instalment of the compilation, Oliver Koletzki is gathered stunning tracks by the likes of Âme, Stimming, Chopstick & Johnjon, Kruse & Nuernberg, Teenage Mutants and Labtracks, filled with melancholic melodies, subtle sunshine and blissful energy. Bon Appétit!
