October's second EP on the !Organism label comes from the studio of Helmut Kraft and produces two originals that then get remixed by Hans Bouffmyhre.
Kraft is a regular on this label as well as other essential outlets like Planet Rhythm. He is someone who Pete Tong has championed on Radio 1, and someone who plays key venues around Europe. Whatever the kind of music he makes, his compositions are always dynamic, full of energy and emotion.
Opener 'Cerebral Inflector' gets things underway in brain warping fashion, with gloopy bass synths fleshing out a pulsing drum line. Big hi hats have plenty of air in them and open things up then roll on for many hypnotising minutes. It's a masterfully restrained track that does a lot with a little to great effect.
The other excellent offering, 'Turbino,' is a spine tinglingly icy techno track with dubby drums and distant sonar pulses speaking of cosmic exploration. It's atmospheric and absorbing and shows Kraft to have a real skill for sound design.
Hans Bouffmyhre started promoting his own parties ten years ago and has now headlined Berghain, Sub Club and Rex, manages his own label and has put music out on big hitters like Perc Trax and Soma. His remix of 'Turbino' shows why: it is a barrel chested techno kicker with fried synths and an ever rising sense of tension that keeps you firmly on edge throughout.
All three top tracks here are destined for big things.
