"You Are My Battlestar", a sci-fi inspired collaboration with Lisa Shaw, is featured in the second of a series of remixes packages highlighting some of Q-Burns Abstract Message's finest moments. The original track, released on Astralwerks in 2001, was a disco-fueled bumper heavily favored by Derrick Carter. Now all of the various "You Are My Battlestar" remixes have been assembled into this superb and diverse EP. French producers Mana Traya and BeneLux join forces for an almost minimal but certainly funky rework that continues to focus on Lisa Shaw's beautiful melodies. Seattle's dynamic duo Jacob London deliver a bumpy techno flavored treatment that's a bit different than the normal JL remix, but nonetheless outstanding. Iceland's Thor54's remix is hypnotic and nearly progressive but retains the drive of a solid house music floor monster. The mysterious Jiggles dropped an eclectic dubbed out house version on our doorstep, intending to delight beardy beat-heads with its fascinating groove. Finally, Q-Burns Abstract Message himself put together a dub version called "Battlebeats" which was previously only found on the original 2001 white label vinyl. It's completely disco-inspired and contains a familiar synth line that quotes electro-disco from the past era.
