  • Release Date 2014-09-29
  • Label Nein Records
  • Catalog NEIN010
Nein Records’ latest release is from label boss Neil Parnell A.K.A Tronik Youth and it comes with a healthy selection of remixes from Damon Jee, Justin Robertson in his Deadstock 33’s guise, In Flagranti and Kezokichi.

Parnell himself has resurfaced this year and has gone right back to the top of the class with his CTRL+S Edits series and previous singles receiving support from DJs including Andy Weatherall, Sean Johnston, Geoffrey Mugwump and DJ Rocca.

‘Bell Common Tunnel’ is his third single for the label and fourth one this year: right from the off it’s a pulsing, slo-mo techno tune that’s already found favour with the few lucky DJs who have received a copy. Riddled with wobbly synth lines and built on purposeful drums, it’s an inter galaxy exploration of spaced out sounds that are as charming as they are chugging.

On the remix duties, Damon Jee’s version has an eighties new wave dance vibe but brought into the 21st century. His funky baselines, tense pads and ghoulish vocal samples all make for a bit of deliciously darkened disco. Next up, dance music mainstay Justin Robertson does an amazing take on the original, layering in tons of dubby reverb, angry analogue lines and chattery percussive patterns. It’s a tune to wig out to at 3am before In Flagranti take the original even further down the rabbit hole. Their version is a spiralling, psychedelic and dirty version that spins you in all directions as various melodies rain down the face of this ramshackle track.

Last but not least comes a remix from Japan’s rising star, Kezokichi, who turns in a dark, deep electronic version that will win him new fans all over the world.

This is yet another great package from Nein and one that offers something for everyone as well as confirming that the label boss is currently in a fine run of form. - See more at: http://www.inhale.org.uk/reviews/5154/tronik-youth--bell-common-tunnel#sthash.4osUisTQ.dpuf
