Man on fire, Stephan Hinz, is back again on Second State and this time with an absolutely massive three track EP titled 'Unsentimental'. Like all of Hinz' tunes, his trademark sound is heavily engrained on each cut no matter the direction he decides to go. This is undeniably apparent on 'Cave' as he masterfully entwines his signature big room Techno with lush backdrops and hints of classic House creating vast, dynamic club anthems. 'Unsentimental' blasts off with the title track and don't let the name fool you, it's saturated with passion, affection, and nostalgia. It's Hinz at his finest. Full on "pedal to the metal" techno brimming with intensity and swirling atmospheres perfectly suited for flashing strobes and sweaty ceilings. 'Hypostasis' on the flip is an ideal blend of Hinz' range. Expertly combining the vibes of the previous two tracks on the EP, it's a jam that could be blasted under the club lights or the sunshine of an open air. Lucid brass bursts and relentless jolts of percussion fuel the ride into the ether and there is no turning back once your underway. Wrapping up the EP is 'Cave', racing from the starting line with an exuberant force Hinz is already appropriately known for. It's like taking a time machine into both the past and future where organic percussion and top end grooves from classic House meet the concept and sound design of future Techno. While a constant howl of a female chant haunts the room, the huge stab lead hypnotizes with its blend of propelling grooviness and serious attitude. Stephan Hinz is at the top of his game right now, and this EP is an exemplary display of his prowess at creating huge, memorable dance hits. Buckle up, hold on and enjoy the ride that is 'Cave'.
