As one of the founding fraternity of the Proton Radio concept in 2001, Biologik has had a productive 2012 with work released on the likes of Stellar Fountain, Morphosis and A Must Have. His work for Particles in 2012 has seen him release tracks on its quarterly compilation series as well as the forthcoming full release of "Sarin". His debut album, "One Month" on Proton is a much-anticipated aural banquet of rhythm and melody. Here, Biologik's offering to Apollo is the techno gem "Black Clouds", where a dark undertone of deep pads and offbeat stabs create a sense of foreboding as crisp percussion skips lightly across the track in infectious patterns. Biologik's cross-genre production skills and unique attention to detail are ably demonstrated.
From the European financial hub of Zurich comes Swiss producer and DJ, Deneha. Marking his consecutive appearance on Skylab compilations, after his track "Svemir" was featured on the summer installment, Deneha has also remixed Antifish for the Apollo in the interim. An album entitled "Phun Tha Mental" for Riff Raff has ensured a busy and productive 2012. For Skylab, "Enter The Dragon" is a tech house offering, full of glitched, pitched-down vocals and organic deep house stabs and mirrored riffs. Further complemented by a complex array or rhythmic beats and percussion, the track is full of vitality.
Producing for the likes of Spring Tube since 2008, Evans T has become a significant contributor to Apollo since 2011 with his, "A Collection of Memories" EP and "Look Joy" release which saw remixes from Stefan Wiese, Brabe and Pat Fosheen. Swedish born Greek, Alexandros Djkevingr is a newcomer to the world of EDM but his deep house creations have found their way onto a variety of compilations in 2012. For Apollo, the duo has teamed up to produce "Orange Zipz", a deep house track full of hypnotic energy. A locked groove of bass and percussion play host to rhythmic stabs and a hint of Karl Hyde is heard in the repetitive vocal hit which further adds to the intensity.
Skylab's final contributor is Italian, Andrea Cassino. Responsible for a raft of original production and remixes in his own right and as co-producer on Proton favourites such as Lowbit, Baires and Balkan Connection, his remix of Alessandro Diga's "Octhendgloren" for Particles in 2011 was a notable highlight. Andrea also hosts the 'Flux' show on Proton Radio and shifting to "a mix of sounds definitely more techno and tech-house" in 2009 has seen his own work supported by the global DJ fraternity. His track "Buenos Aries" is full of emotion and effortless melody; riffs and pads sparkle and glitter in repetitive beauty while a strong kick drum punches through to give dance floor energy along with ticking hi-hats and percussive elements.
With four new original contributions Skylab's quarterly orbit looks very secure indeed.
