Erik and Rumor have worked together in the past on a wicked remix of Silicone Soul's 'Feelin Blue' which has been one of the hotter bootlegs of 2013. Fans of that will surely love 'Whats It Called' as it comes with a similar energy and drive. The composition begins with a rumbling, hypnotic groove that's well complemented with bubbly bass textures and some amazing rhythms. The first drop introduces some big bass stabs which are incredibly groovy and carry some serious weight as the energetic beats pick back up. Panning electronics and some well textured synths assault your senses as the track rolls through an incredible centre section. This is going to be dynamite on the dance floor as the energy levels here are incredible and without a main breakdown to slow the proceedings you've got a perfect peak time record.
The first remix is provided by Oscar Vazquez who is making his first appearance on Dopamine. The Spanish producer has been a big contributor to the Liquid Grooves imprint this year after taking over AandR for the label. Oscar's blend of progressive and tech house always comes with an immense presence and a cool atmosphere that makes them perfect for today's dance floors. For his 'Whats It Called' interpretation Oscar has taken the hypnotic groove and re-invented it with a much deeper and more streamlined vibe. The undulating groove which is so distinctive in the original has been downplayed just a touch and surrounded by some grinding atmospheres that add perfectly to the mesmerising nature of the track. Great interpretation from Oscar!
The final remix comes from Ozan Kanik who is also making his first appearance on Dopamine. The Dutch producer's deep tech house sound has been delighting Dutch club goers since the late nineties and he's carried that sound over into the studio with releases on Movement Recordings, Omnis and Sounds R Us. Ozan's 'Whats It Called' remix closes the package out on a strong note with a stripped down dubby version that complements the other mixes very well. The Dutch producer has crafted some harmonizing rhythms that add wonderfully to the already infectious groove from the original. It's a mix that should fair very well on the techno and tech house floors all through the summer season.
