Opening our 2020 account is the irrepressible No One Name with 'Mother'. On remix duties, Guy Ro adds his unique charm. Resident DJ at one of South America's premier clubs has prepared Diego for a life in the limelight. Signed to Baroque, 3rd Avenue, Armada and owner of Robot Groove, he's fast becoming a well-known entity.
'Mother' is a muscular, analogue affair with crisp percussion and clean lines. Starting off with a chugging, bongo-led groove the low end might soon takes the weight as tensions grow. High pads whistle while growling Reese bass punctures the air. Brief respite occurs midway as delicate keys add a note of relief, before being swept aside for more grimy bass pressure.
The sole remix comes courtesy of label all-star GuyRo, who brings a more progressive edge to 'Mother'. His rework creates a good feel vibe from the word go, as the atmospheric and driving vibe keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces that continue building to culminate into a lovely progressive house groover.
