You Can't Stop This

  • Artists Black & Blunt, Kickflip, Janette Slack, Javone Prince
  • Release Date 2012-11-20
  • Labels Slack Trax
  • Catalog STX002
  • Description After her first single 'Girl In Black', Janette Slack takes a turn to demonstrate her influences from her more alternative background. Getting in touch with her Sheffield roots, she teams up with fellow producer Kickflip.

The duo have merged their signature sounds together to create a hybrid of styles, drawing in elements of rock, electro, flavorous bass, and some freestlying vocals by Javone Prince (AKA 'Jerwayne' from Channel 4's Phoneshop).

'You Can't Stop This' is influenced by Janette's residency at Torture Garden, an audience that is united from various musical tastes that range from punk rock to complextro, and dub step to progressive. A combination that would seem a challenge, however here, it just makes sense.

Kickflip's sound is no stranger to Torture Garden's dancefloor, his productions and remixes have played a big part in the ever-evolving sound of the main arena. Some highlights include, 'Freaky Funky Nasty', 'Rock My World' and 'Twitch'.

Actor Javone Prince, who has also featured a roll on Ricky Gervais's 'Life Too Short', known for his impeccable skills for improv, here he delivers on his first musical venture with no trouble.

The remix by Perth duo Black & Blunt is a proper heads down, stomping cheeky groover that has been pleasing crowds in the Australian festival circuit so far. The pair have been making waves on reputable label Lot49 and Janette has regularly jammed with the boys during her Australia tours - finding that they share similar hedonistic views as well as music taste that bar no prejudice.

This single is a forthcoming track appearing on her debut artist album and mix compilation 'Torture Garden Session'. Due out on digital in late January, with limited edition CDs out before Christmas available directly from her website and on Torture Garden's website
