As Proton Music moves into long, hot summer days, another wave of sultry underground house music hits its catalogues. Through his Soulwerk production guise, Gonzalo Luque is one such protagonist in this movement as he now returns to the label with "The New Beginning" backed by a single remix of Greek flair.

Based out of the Spanish capital, Madrid resident, Luque, has never been one to shy away from experimenting with his sound. An impressive producer of international repute, his work has consistently found favour with the music listening public and DJ elite on a regular basis. Early releases saw Beatport chart success on labels including Cr2, Saved and Great Stuff as the creation of his Soulwerk soubriquet in 2011 opened up another avenue of success. From the "Distant Sun EP" on Whose Haus and "Fraktals" EP on Cid Inc.'s Replug, the Soulwerk name has been thrust into the limelight and onto the radar of the international DJ fraternity. Subsequent work for Mirabilis, Balkan Connection and Perspectives Digital has continued to enhance an already strong reputation while a dozen production credits for Proton Music has witnessed a deep well of talent. The "Searching for You Through the Stars" and "Spiritcatcher" original EPs have spearheaded this success, boosted further by remixes from Scotty.A and Kastis Torrau and Donatello. Remixes of Silinder and Dousk by Soulwerk himself have also seen the Madrileno's cachet increased.

A backbone characterised by thick beat and percussive hi-hat urgency, "The New Beginning" carries a strong dance floor thread with rippling arpeggio sequence that is the perfect partner to driving rhythm and bass. A wonderful set of vocal phases provide a sinister edge as they whisper in pitched down, sinister fashion while counterpoint melody adds a dreamlike layer of intrigue. The result is a sure-fire club hit of immaculate quality.

Rapidly rising Greek star, Simos Tagias, provides a single remix. A producer whose stock and fan base has climbed dramatically since debuting on Lynx and Modu Records in late 2012 and early 2013, Tagias' prolific output has been a constant companion to an array of blue chip labels. A regular on Stellar Fountain, Clinique and Dopamine, a collection of original and remix material has hit the virtual shelves with impressive regularity. Furthermore, support from DJ luminaries that include Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Cid Inc. have continued to showcase the Simos Tagias name in bright light.

A regular on Proton's sister label, appearances on the seasonal Particles compilation series quickly hit the headlines as "Drunk State" secured a release in its own right while remixes of James Monro and Jelly for The Babies illustrated another side of the Serres resident's production persona. Now debuting on Proton Music, the Simos Tagias remix takes "The New Beginning" on a path of trademark percussive flair as a rhythmically dominant offering pounds its way across seven minutes of dynamic energy. The themes of Soulwerk's original are fully realised through the distinctive vocal sample and grooved melodic elements and the resultant work is testament to Tagias' established reputation.

Commencing "The New Beginning", Soulwerk continues to travel along a successful path with Simos Tagias providing an esteemed companion.
