Hailing from Stockholm, Kim Stockblom aka Kimono was first introduced to Electronic music and foremost Detroit Techno, by listening to the heroic sounds of Jeff Mills and Derrick May. Through collecting vinyl he discovered the music of the Swedish producers Adam Beyer, Cari Lekebusch, Thomas Krome and Joel Mull and fell in love with their sound. 2007 saw Kim build his own studio and since that time he has toiled endlessly, constantly refining his production skills. His style has always veered toward a more 'dirty', experimental sound and he has already seen his work released on labels including Material, Globox, Trapez and H-Productions.
"Mission 187" sees Kimono treading a dark and menacing path. A vicious drum line and piercing Ride's kick us off as synth stabs pierce the sounds. A twisted and eerie synth riff builds in intensity as it comes to the fore and battles with the pounding drums.
"Before Performance" the second original from Kimono again sees a hugely powerful drum line accompanied by a sparkling, space- age melody that builds in intensity, egged on by the piercing Ride. Like an intergalactic wave, we are swept up and down before building to a crescendo and driving on.
On the remix of "Mission 187" the label welcome italian DJ/Producer and label owner, Sasha Carassi. As founder and owner of labels including Phobiq, Globox, Zirben and Capsula, Sasha has worked with many of the world's finest techno artists. Today he wears his producer hat to deliver his take of the title track. Taking the original's already heavy drum line, Sasha bulks things up yet more, adding extra drive and darkness, to deliver a stunning rework that is not for the feint of heart.
