The first instalment of the 'Broadband Collaborations series (yes, series - we've got more in the TPS vault!) by George Lanham and Mr. Jones, was voted by Dave Clarke as the best single of 2011. 'Collab 3 on that EP did the trick, as it did for many people on the dancefloor. After the release, both gentlemen have made incredible transitions: Mr. Jones teamed up with Dave Clarke in the studio and debuted Europe's most important festival, Awakenings, while George Lanham moved to Barcelona and founded his own label, Pareto Park (heavily supported in The Public Stand's weekly radio show). The second instalment of 'Broadband Collaborations' is as ruthless as the first. The opening track, 'Collab 7' is hard as nails and yet at the same time has a certain serenity you don't often come across in the harder peripheries of current techno. This track features that signature style Mr. Jones arrangement; slowly evolving, constantly warping in a wide range of sound FX and always with the evil sonic details tucked in the back. The second track, 'Collab 8' leans more towards the original George Lanham sound with resonant distorted stabs under a traditional array of techno drums. You can still hear Mr. Jones' touch in the slowly building arrangement, steadily cultivating the sounds as if it were bacteria in a 40 degrees celsius petri dish, expanding from a harmless little dot into a mutated flesh eating species. The antidote? So far, none is available!...
