In order to get a rough idea on what Jannowitz records' newest EP is all about just take a look at the title. Breakout EP already gives away everything you need to know. Because this EP is a real breakout EP - having three brand new artists for the label: Gayle San, GRAU and Christian Craken. Names you have never read before on any release at JAW. And if you have followed the label closely you might know that that's rather rarely the case. But there are also things that just stay the way they are. One being the internationality of the imprint: Gayle San was born in Singapore, Christian Craken runs the PHOBIA label in Bulgaria and GRAU is one of the hottest electronic music duos in Germany right now. Another being the sound of the EP. Jannowitz records stays true to its sound with four relentless state-of-the-art techno bangers. The title giving Breakout being characterised by a catchy break with a circus-like trumpet line that makes it a promising late-summer hit that will bring beach vibes even to the most underground clubs. Palmetto as the second Original Mix by Gayle San is harder but not unimaginative at all. It lives through simple yet creative elements and a baseline that will drive you crazy. And with both tracks you will see that San who has been working as a DJ since the 90s (not to mention her monthly residency at Frankfurt's legendary Omen club) has not lost any of her musical talent at all despite having cut back a little from the music scene over the last few years. Now to the remixers: Bulgarian DJ and producer Christian Craken kindly took some of his precious time to work with Palmetto. It will take moment until you realise that there is really Palmetto underneath his remix but once the catchy melody starts you will get what happened. And isn't that what a good remix is all about? Creating something new from tearing apart something already existing. Our last remix is one of the most exciting signings Jannowitz records has ever made. GRAU is a talented electronic music duo from Berlin that concentrates on a kind of tech-house plus vocals. If you haven't checked out their live act we highly recommend to do so. But wait. Did you actually just read tech-house? Weren't you promised relentless techno? True. We approached GRAU asking if they would be interested in doing a techno track. And they said yes. The result is mind blowing. Never would we have imagined getting one of the most contemporary deep techno tracks from them. Jannowitz records label boss BOHO was more than convinced which is the reason why you can already expect to see more of GRAU in the very near future - they are a part of the Jannowitz and also Jaw Dropping Records family now.
