Christ Burstein, one of the brains and founders behind Rural Records, he is back with 'Du bist nicht depressiv.' The first track on the E.P shares it name with the title of the release 'Du bist nicht depressiv', a deep and dark, yet bumpy and rhythmic number. This track is haunting and hypnotic all whilst retaining a constant flow and groove. The Deutsch vocals surprise you, all the way. Chris Fortier (Bedrok, Selador, Fade) provided 2 remixes of this production, whilst his rendition has very much kept the general vibe of the original, a winding arp synth creates a different energy and power to the track. Long and subtle details on the main remix, and the instrumental version. 'Gurke', this original has a plucked progressive bass-line, reverbed wobbly horns and long drawn out synth work. This production progresses surreptitiously, building from start to finish, timely and patiently. The third track on this release is named 'Wortel' and it carries a different vibe from the previous three. An alive and groovy bass-line is at the centre presenting a vintage yet very current sound. 'Wortel' is well balanced, dancy and fresh with some familiar samples and chords. This is a versatile track that could be played anywhere from a funk set to nu disco, whilst still firmly holding a place amongst house and tech. A dub version of 'Gurke', is there as well, just to keep the energy flow.
