While Technophile – AKA Nabih Esta, one half of dynamic Beirut duo Ronin &
Nesta – lives up to his tech-loving name, his roots lie in the twisted,
melodic haze of psychedelic and progressive rock bands. With Pink Floyd,
Eloy & Porcupine Tree at the forefront of his collection, and with a family
of drummers spurring him on, Nabih fell head over heels into the club scene
in his teens, discovering Global Underground at 13, and defining DJs like
Anthony Pappa, Danny Tenaglia, Lee Burridge and James Lavelle.
And it’s this melding of musical matter that defines Technophile's unique
sound: cutting edge dance music imbued with a dark, sexy, experimental
groove. Don’t just take our word for it though - Indepth Music, Blaq and
Cuatro Records have all signed forthcoming tracks, with more in the
pipeline.
This is just the latest chapter in the ever-evolving Ronin & Nesta story:
they’re both residents at Beirut's finest new club Uberhaus, while their
long-running radio show on Beirut’s No.1 station Mix FM continues to go
from strength to strength, marking them out as "Beirut's best exports".
Alongside that, Nesta/Technophile has opened and closed for house music
legends including Danny Howells, Lee Burridge, Carl Cox, John Digweed,
Marco Carola, Sasha, Magda, Marc Houle, Dubfire, Francesco Farfa, Gunnar
Stiller and more...
But it’s in his newly built, fully equipped studio that you’ll find him
most at home, using past influences to create a brand new energetic, warped
house groove.
