Robert Thoma is ‘Strictly Underground’. Similar to his ancestors, nomadic musicians, his musical beginnings resemble a journey through the most diverse genres of electronic music. Finally arrived, he found himself in Tech House. In the early 90s, Wolfgang Matzl and numerous Black percussionists initiated his feeling for the rhythmic subtlety of music. In 1997 he discovered his passion for turntables and learned all the basics of sound engineering at the Toneart. How to play the decks, tips and tricks for studio productions and the fine art of creating sets, that’s what his mentor Robert Stefan (Body & Soul) taught him. When it comes to technique, Thoma found the Swedish Techno DJ Adam Beyer most inspiring.
At his nationwide gigs, Thoma rather stays in the background and makes his music speak on his behalf. Music is his passion he wants to share with his fellow humans, as front man and host. His concept is music for grown-ups – STRAIGHT JOYFUL MAGNETIC MUSIC.
