Brownswood Bubbler and lo-fi beat mystique Elsa Hewitt returns with her second album.... 'DUM SPIRO SPERO'.
Elsa's previous output that included singles 'Birthday Roof Party' and 'Snow White Lily' earned her widespread radio play and international exposure through internet hype and online streaming giant Spotify. This has lead to some high profile gigs such as London's legendary Jazz Cafe as well as being inducted into Gilles Peterson's 'Brownswood Bubblers' roster.
With her artistically explorative nature and insatiable appetite for releasing music, 'DUM SPIRO SPERO' comes at a time of social unrest and political uncertainty. Her productions whisk you away to lucid fantasial lands, whilst her songwriting resonates something more personal, creating a brick and balloon effect -? an all be it necessary record for these bleak and troubling times.
The debut single 'BreathingSpaceX' (expected for release on June 9th) reflects a lonely night bus experience in which the temporal atmosphere of the top deck conjugates with the sparse and windy sound fragments of the outside world, taking us to a place of wistful lo-fi melancholia.
Still riding a similar groove?-state the B--side blankets our ears with low--pass filtered pads and muffled percussion, which is offset playfully, by an altogether trippier twang.
The second single, Tantrum, (which will be accompanied by a video released June 16th) paves a tender trudge with intricately detailed productions and creates a more realized and developed vision of Hewitt's previous output. With a more optimized use of synthetic percussion and sharp yet seductive skits, at the center, a more song structured R&B-like ballad is delicately interweaved.
The B--side, 'Healing Hands' reveals itself to be a more bass heavy, half step jam underpinned with Holter-esque harmonies and tape crackled drums.
The two singles will be available on all major digital platforms and music retail sites.
DUM SPIRO SPERO drops on June 30th and will also be available on all major digital platforms, as well as on tape and CD via Bandcamp.
Catch Elsa Hewitt's live Audio-Visual Jam set at Brainchild festival 7-9th July, as well as a full live set at Zooquarium Festival in Hastings on July 15th and at the Future Bubblers year 2 London showcase on July 20th.
