Our new Solar Distance release is by Fernando Lagreca, an Uruguayan artist based in Barcelona who has made a name for himself playing hardware only live sets at festivals such as Sónar, ElectroSplash and BIME. With a number of albums under his belt, his music has featured on labels such as Envy Music, Beautiful Accident and Sincopat.
The release also features a remix from Mattia Pompeo, who many will recognise from his music featured on Stil Vor Talent, Parquet, Einmusika, Tenampa, Sincopat and Suara. Mattia Pompeo is originally from Italy but currently based in Spain, and comes from a classically trained background of playing guitar, bass guitar and piano.
First up is “Orchidea” that starts with sparse synth layers over the kick drum, where pulsating bass stabs are added to create a deep and airy atmosphere. Lifted by the cosmic lead sound, things unfold with epic velocity and the interstellar journey begins. Dramatic pads help build suspense and finish off this dancefloor focused slice of melodic Techno.
Track two is Mattia Pompeo’s remix of "Orchidea" and keeping the originals epic feel. Mattia adds his own stamp by toughening the track up and making the percussion more prominent and changing the bassline. He also adds his own melody parts and some dramatic guitar sections to compliment the atmospheric synths taken from the original.
The third track "Mission Crash" has a squelching bass synth that blends with distorted tom drums and stripped back percussion. Spacious and full of atmosphere, the track has a dramatic burst of uplifting synths that lead to its stunning breakdown. After the break, the melodic elements become a prominent feature and it swells with emotion.
Finishing the release is "Nebulae" and its eloquent fusion of delicate melodies and dramatic bursts of atmospheric percussion. Looped vocal textures develop into muffled song, as the track blossoms to be both trippy and captivating. The perfect end to a storytelling EP, this track captures your imagination with its unique sound.
