"I dont really buy into latest trends; I try to make music that does not date." the British-born DJ and producer GARRY TODD reveals about his art. He is the man behind the label Contemporary Scarecrow - a platform that likewise publishes music and fashion. After a nomadic life between Australia, Ibiza and the UK, he settled down in Down Under for some years and became a central figure of the club scene in and around Sydney. Now the boy from Sunderland is back in the UK, relocated in London and locked himself into his studio to produce tracks that play deep with the genre house. After his celebrated debut album "Nora Lilian" and various EP's for labels such as Illusion Recordings and BPitch Control, he now drops his new 12 inch "Mind's Eye". The title track knocks immediately with a dry bassdrum and an extra-terrestrial voice loop in the back. After a short while powerful kickdrums and hand-claps transform the sensation into a dark house monster. The second tune "Dream For You" is pure house, too. Again peppered by dry kickdrums and nonchalant claps. And again a voice is guiding the listeners. It comes from the London based singer Josh Caffe, whose singing resembles the vibe of that good old house-nation, in which singers like Jamie Principle heated the clubs with androgynous voices. Also the third track "Take Control" is fuelled with a magical vocal loop. His style is again House, but he jacks with more BPM and got some nervous funk in his blood. The vinyl edition features an ambient edit of the title track. And the digital version drops an instrumental version of "Dream For You" on top. A thick pack, produced and corded to withstand time.
