The return of the original SONS OF MARIA is always an exciting and eagerly anticipated highlight and this brand new 3 track EP is no exception. Especially as the title track COTTON FIELDS is another product of the unbeatable combo Nora En Pure & Sons Of Maria that already joined forces last year resulting in the club hit "Uruguay".
We're starting a musical journey on the cotton fields in Memphis: Let's turn back the hands of time and dive into history, when slavery was part of the Southern American society and the underdogs sang their elegies to make the days go by faster. This traditional dirge gets combined with modern deep house and electronica percussions and a crispy base line as well as some touchy orchestral licks that add a certain kind of "heart breaking" vibe to the track. A high quality track with an amazing idea. That's what we're looking for and we remunerate this courage with making it the title track of this EP.
Track 2 on the EP is called WHATEVER YOU WANT TO BE, a clubbier track for the peak hour deep house sets when the party is in its full swing. Teasing with spoken female vocals, analogue base lines and shaky beats this track will surely do its job out on the dance floors also because of its smart arrangement that teases with a lot of ups and downs and never gets boring at any time.
The last track on the EP is named after the EP. SOLERO is built upon a melodic arpeggio line that goes throughout. But if you expect a monosonic EP filler you might soon get proven wrong: This track is anything else than that. Constantly building with a huge epic intense you will get on a journey through mature deep house music, with crafty analogue synth sounds and staccative tuba licks.
All in all this EP is another highlight in the young but promising career of the SONS OF MARIA that is definitely an artist to watch out in the coming years.
