Following up last month’s Beatport chart-topping “Rough Tempo” E.P. by SILK, Lengoland continues to scale-up momentum on their label releases with another powerful slice of bassline carnage, this time from hotly-tipped breakout producer MPH.
Hailing from Canterbury, 22 year-old MPH has called-in vocalist godfather of the scene Dread MC to collab on “Business Mode”, the E.P.’s opening track. It’s a stunning way to kick-off proceedings, balancing MPH’s sonic wizardry as a producer with the slick delivery and finely-tuned lyrical gusto of Dread MC.
Next up is a V.I.P. of MPH’s slammer “Mud” which swept through the scene late last year as a calling card for all to take-note of. In its new form, “Mud V.I.P.” shoots from the hip and asks questions later – a sure-fire festival weapon which quickly proves MPH is no one-trick pony.
Closing the E.P., MPH takes things darker with “Aggregation”, a bass-house dub which nails the vibe of the scene right now with change to spare, and “Business Mode (Dub)” offering a versatile instrumental revision of the E.P.’s eponymous opener.
Having already garnered solid support from DJ EZ, My Nu Leng, Flava D, Darkzy, Skepsis, TS7 and Shapes, in addition to an impressive establishing roster of releases through Cru Cast, Deeprot, Gassed and Yosh Pit in barely a year, “Business Mode” muscles MPH yet closer to an inevitable exponential rise in 2019.
