One half of go-to party, ‘The Night Institute’ and head of own imprint, Nocturne Music, Jordan is a name to sit up and take note of with his debut Boiler Room and a slew of well-placed releases complimenting an already busy gig schedule.
May saw the second release from his burgeoning Nocturne Music imprint; a package of solid-gold original tracks from the man himself alongside two killer edits from Gerd Janson and Phillip Lauer’s Tuff City Kids. Last year his ‘Killing Mockingbirds’ EP kicked off the vinyl series, with Adesse Versions and Borrowed Identity jumping on remix duties. Garnering a wave of top end DJ support, this release led to his widely lauded release on Tiga’s Twin Turbo family; ’Coup De Grace’ receiving regular outings on BBC Radio One.
Blending a natural flair for production with a DJ’s ear, Jordan creates classic-feeling records, championed by the likes of Thump, DJ Mag, XLR8R, Ransom Note and more. More recently, his track, "Voyager" entered the Beatport Top 5 House Releases, whilst Unknown to the Unknown boss, DJ Haus, picked up "Apogee" for an exclusive vinyl release.
Jordan's reputation as a party-thrower began as a rebellion toward Belfast’s licensing laws, with after-hours sessions in venues from noodle bars and hairdressers to cafes and art galleries. Having progressed into legit clubs, Jordan can now be found alongside Timmy Stewart, running weekly sweatbox, The Night Institute, a party recognised as a leading light in Belfast and beyond. Shows have followed across the UK and further afield, from Manchester’s Warehouse Project to Paloma in Berlin, via stop-offs in London, Glasgow, Dublin and beyond.
The Night Institute’s growth has bought Mike Dunn, Paul Johnson, Octave One, Moxie, Gerd Janson and more to Northern Irish shores. It’s a long way from Jordan's career kick-starting in 2006, when named ‘One to Watch’ by BBC Radio 1. A regular on Irish festival main-stages and Red Bull Music Academy events, the past 12 months have seen Jordan join stellar lineups at Life Festival, Higher Vision and of course, the Boiler Room stage at AVA Festival plus worldwide radio play outs.
As for this year? Simple. More cities ticked off the list and a trove of unreleased music seeing the light of day...
