Dejon Lofton emerged on the DJ scene in 2010 in New York City and Central Florida. Currently a Psychology major at Queens College in NYC he is a young artist with a passion for music. His love for music production began when he was 9 years old and his parents gave him a piano and music program (Reason). He immediately took to his first instrument and worked on it day after day. Constantly producing and spending hours listening to music became a true passion for Dejon. His parents, who were club music veterans, noticed his ability and were geared to support his endeavors. Dejon was on his way to whipping crowds into music frenzy.
His pure talent had been self-taught and free of observing or consulting with other DJ’s until a chance meeting in 2010 with his parent’s friends DJ Nikita, DJ Nasty and DJ Technic. Three well established DJ’s in Florida who put Dejon on deck for the first time. His natural ability was quickly recognized by these seasoned DJ’s. Within a month, Dejon was working his first steady gig at Griffs Lounge in Inverness Florida along-side DJ Technic Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. Little did he know, but living between New York City and Central Florida will prove to round out his skills and DJ personality just right. This began to form his essence of authentic small scene origins and trendy big city prestige.
Dejon’s roots and influences range from: hip hop, reggaeton, and most importantly Tech House, Techno, Tribal, and Progressive House. Dejon is not limited to one genre, however he is getting well known for his lively Tech sets, and tribal drums he drops. He’s influenced by a wide range of artists such as Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone, Jay Lumen, Nic Fanciulli, Shlomi Aber, Hollen, Nicole Moudaber, Carl Cox, Oscar G, Loco Dice , and David Hererro. With this wide range of Tech and Tribal artists, Dejon blends styles to constantly keep his crowd moving. His current equipment is a Traktor s4 from Native Instruments. Club owners see the excitement that drives up drink sales and their clubs reputation when Dejon is on deck. This has led to headlining gigs at Scene Nightclub in St. Petersburg Florida and regular appearances at Griffs Lounge when he is in town. In New York City, Dejon has been steadily building his reputation working house parties and small bar scene. In 2013 h
e plans to continue putting out his podcasts weekly to give to his fans, and to bring in new followers. These mixes can be found on Dejon’s FaceBook page, which is Dejon Lofton, and on his Soundcloud
