Glasgow's rapidly growing underground label, Bulletdodge release another slab of quality minimal techno by Gareth Whitehead featuring ace remix's from some of the freshest new talent. `When you believe' builds on the labels continuing success and maintains the high standard set by previous releases. The title track is a fine example of Gareth's signature sound, creating an expansive soundscape from a minimal amount of elements. The record builds around a rock solid groove provided by an electronic rhythm section that sounds big and present yet maintains a deep edge. The dub-flavoured percussion and effects are driven to a peak that climaxes with an unusual musical flurry that is both subtle and tasteful. Label fave Electric Voodoo provides a thoughtful tech house remix, keeping things deep and dubby whilst taking the original groove in an edgier direction via some atmospheric fx and a growling bassline. Shelley Parker brings a slightly abstract edge to proceedings and her swinging electro flavoured mix is a more radical departure yet superbly maintains the mood of the release. Gareth Whitehead's `When you believe' is another quality release from a rapidly growing deep underground label, Bulletdodge records.
