U.S. techno act Optimal Decay returns to SubSensory with a pounding three tracker titled Lightbox. The EP kicks off with Illuminated, a hammering slice of mechanical techno featuring a mutated, modulating acid line over driving drums. Next is the deeply infectious title track, Lightbox, with its dark vocal hook and searing lead. On track three OD closes out the EP with Killing Machine, a dry, stompy and robotic affair. Taken as a whole, it's a release that highlights OD's industrial roots and an obsession with dark rhythms and thick atmospheres.
