With its 24th release our digital imprint Upon. You Digital welcomes a new member, which has been gaining more and more attention throughout the past four or five years. Originally hailing from Hamburg and now based in Berlin Frag Maddin's tunes have been released on labels like Jeudi Records, URSL and Area Remote as well as some others this upcoming artist now finally finished Hat's N Drive - his four track label debut on Upon. You Digital.
Balancing right on the thin line between TechHouse and more technoid musings the opener Close Windows sets things straight for the pumped crowd. Muscular drums, sharp closed hi-hats and thrilling percussive elements meet tripped out minimalism and sparse, dangerous synths suitable for the darkest hours of the night
With the title track Hat's N Drive we see Frag Maddin revealing his love for tripping, yet forceful drums, ecstatic vocal samples, super functional echo wizzardry and uplifting, oldskool-reminiscing stabs a recipe created to cause havoc on the dancefloor for a reason. Where's the whistle crew?
The journey continues with Sicker, another stripped down killer tune that fuses brutal, minimalistic House grooves, low-end sickness, gooey Acid lines and extremely twisted, heavily warped melodic synths hooks for the peak time. A tune that surely makes a difference hammered through a properly set up P.A. rig.
Finally Psycho Chiller caters the needs for super dry percussion settings fused with spine-tingling strings, danger-inducing bass notes and psyched out, crystalline melodies - a tribute to the jackin' zone with classic, uber-seductive male vocals serving a genuine ChiTown feel for those who know. Not a chiller but a killer.
