The third single taken from DJ T.'s passion-drenched debut album features exciting remixes from Manhead and Putsch 79. Now resident in Berlin, DJ T. has been a vital player on the electronic music scene since the late 80s; creating and guiding German-language music bible Groove magazine since 1989 and holding residencies at seminal clubs including Monza in his native Frankfurt, which he opened with friends in 1999. He began his production career collaborating with Steve Bug for Pokerflat but has since been found with tracks or remixes on labels including 20:20 Vision, ArtOfDisco, Naked Music, Breastfed and Simple. In 2002 he founded Get Physical Music with friends M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade. His outstanding releases for the label include the well known 'Freemind', 'Electrofied', 'Philly' and the acid laced 'Time Out'. On the album 'Boogie Playground' DJ T. explores his wide ranging vintage influences, breathing new life into these well known aesthetics with his modern take on them.
On the original of "Funk On You" DJ T. swirls electro funk, disco and Italo fragments into an organic-sounding whole complete with breathy stabs and handclaps. With vocals inspired by Tom Tom Club he creates a tongue-in-cheek party vibe. The two remixers DJ T. has chosen have a finger on the modern disco pulse, as was his original intention with 'Funk On You'. Robbie Insinna takes two guises; Headman for the more nu wave, rock influenced productions and Manhead for the more disco, italo inspired, electro sounds. His Manhead's 'robi?s rave' remix sounds like in the middle between these two alter egos, it features low sub bass and clicking hi hats from the off combing with thumping drums and all the original vocal parts. A strong rave feel is created as he twists the key of the melody to push the remix to a crescendo. Flipping over, Putsch 79 also take things more forward than we might commonly expect with a percussive heavy remix. Grooving disco beats and looped melody meet slapping percussion and beguiling space sounds, to entice us out for dancefloor mayhem. Finnish duo Putsch 79 have explored their own unique take on disco with consistently fine releases on Clone Records, where they released their debut album 'Putsch' last year. For those who prefer their dancefloor to be vocal free, there's a new dub mix replacing them with drum rolls and disco edged melody. A package with something for everyone.
