PGR returns from an extended hiatus by going back to the label founders' roots: drum and bass. Mark Kloud, master of all things footwork and jungle, brings us the Hollow Note EP. This is autonomic, halfstep drum and bass at its finest. The lead track Hollow Note is just that, an ode to the hollow, negative spaces hiding between frenetic percussion, all rolling along at half time. Some of Mark's early inspiration, 90s jungle, is mixed in with contemporary elements of footwork to create a rocking, funky groover in Not One To Harm. Delving deeper into a more pure jungle sound, the halfstep ripper Get War features rugged amen breaks and a snarling bass line, reminiscent of the classic reece bass. Batting cleanup on the EP is Rockies, a clean, subtle, bass driven half step workout, fitting to end the EP on a more mental note.
