Frequency Recordings should be well known to every drum & bass fan. Ram Records sister label, and the home of stars such as Sub Focus, DC Breaks, Xample and Hamilton amongst a plethora of the scenes greatest underground talent, Frequency has played a pivotal role as an outlet for the incredible music that gets sent in via Andy C and Rams inbox. Following on from Optiv & BTKs 'Zero Hour' Frequency drop their second 12 of the year, this time from Wickaman & Hoodlum and Rewind.
Taking the lead on the A side Wickaman & Hoodlum unleash an absolute beast of a tune in the form of 'Aint Done Yet'. Soothing pads lull you into a false sense of security before some chunky drums begin to pave the way for whats to come. And what comes is an immense chunk of bass so heavy it may just knock club goers off their feet! Screeching midrange synths and ultra-low sub bass ensure utter dance floor mayhem and prove once again that Frequency knows how to pick the best of the D&B crop.
Rewind step up next and their driving slice of drum & bass pulls no punches either. Fans of their recent EP will already know what these producers are capable of, but newcomers will be blown away by the epic atmospheres, muted Reese bass notes and pounding subs. 'I Got A Feeling' is a lesson in how to create feel-good D&B that doesnt sound cheesy.
And completing the package for those who prefer their bass music at 140bpm is a cheeky dubstep version of 'Aint Done Yet'. Minimal tweaks are required to slot this into the bouncing dance floor friendly dubstep category, and will surely find its way into plenty of DJ sets over the coming months. Another huge release from Frequency!
