My Carts

Matt KVon And Jonny Castro, an Australian duo originating from Newcastle andAdelaide respectively, met two years ago at a less than boring shindig, six or seven guys chilling around the couch. After thirty minutes they left the less - than - party, went home, got arty and made their first track, titled "Cant Get Better Than This". Suffice to say this monumental moment was the thing to launch their careers and put Parachute Youth on the map on a far from modest way.Previous to this less than spectacular meet, Matt worked as an AvionicsTechnician in the Airforce, working on jet fighters (hence the name ParachuteYouth). Johnny had played at festivals such as Big Day Out with local outfit DefStarr, playing synths. The band achieved some success with their remix of Phoenix ‘Fencesʼ.After some months the boys left their home towns, left their girlfriends, sold their cars and moved to Paris. Some time amongst all this Matt and Johnny reached out to a completely blown away Sweat it Out Records in Sydney, Australia to sign "Cant Get BetterThan This".Awonderfully hypnotic celebration of life,a song soaring withunbridled joy, dark melancholy and drama reverbed. Although the boys cite theirinfluences as Joy Division/New Order, The Human League, The Smiths,Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, The Stone Roses, the sound is completelymodern and contemporary swallowing up huge tracts of musical vision.Upon sending it to a few friends, "Cant get Better Than This" quickly spread and national radio station, Triple J started to support the record in a massive way. It was the first played song on Triple J in 2012 after the stroke of midnight in celebration of the year ahead. This single has also been the mostplayed track on Triple J in 2012 and the video has had over 10 millionviews on Youtube across uploads, clocking a massive 5 million views across the official video alone. The insanely magnificent accompanying film clip shot by French Clip Producer Julien Paolini, involved travelling to Burkina Faso, under security escort, in helicopters, to hire kids to play out a drama (that actually occurs annually but was cancelled due to civil strife) in this troubled African Republic. The single “Can’t Get Better Than This” which achieved gold sales in Australia and Belgium and went to number 1 on the official charts in Australia, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine and Belgium.Sony In The Mix named it Best Song of 2012 and runner up for Best Film Clip in2012. The band was nominated for Best Dance Release in 2012 at the AriaAwards. The second single “Count To Ten” completed its two week exclusiveairplay on Triple J in 2012 and serviced to national radio with the full promocampaign running alongside it at the start of 2013. Having performed the Parklife Tour, Splendour In The Grass, Rhythm and Vines, Falls Festival and Homebake they were invited by The Presets on tour as the main support on their fourteen date tour of Australia. But it doesn’t stop there for 2013, the band are packing up their lives in Australia and moving to Europe for the Summer to play some of the biggest festival and club shows the world has to offer. Two follow up singles are reportedly in the pipeline as well as a remix of International heavyweights The Foals being released over the summer. Parachute Youth is in for an adventure and so are their European fans. This will be the first time the duo has played on Euro turf but it surely wonʼt be their last. And 2014? We could only assume it will be an album...
