DJ Vistar

DJ Vistar is the artist persona of Vuyo Magwa, an actor, artist, DJ and producer from Western Cape, South Africa. Magwa started DJing in 2008 before moving into production a year later. His story tells of a young man from a humble background who used to collect his neighbours’ old records, and for whom music proved an escape and catharsis from the pain and struggle of growing up with an abusive father. A wonderful instrumentalist and composer, his music channels the revolutionist, Socialist-inspired jazz championed by the likes of Jimmy Dludlu, Donlaka, as well as deep house producers such as Black Coffee, Julian Gomez, Atjazz, Cuebur and more.
