Silk Textures proudly welcome Hegrustin, an artist from Silk's birthplace of Moscow, Russia. His debut contribution to the imprint, "Rising Of The Sun," is a sensual deep house cut, which begins with a subby, cavernous bass progression, as well as flute-tinged lead. Both themes carry the song to its conclusion; yet, while the sun 'rises,' many other emotive atmospheric effects punctuate the tune, including a heavenly vocal sample (in the main break), distant saxophone stabs, and hollow, bell-like sounds, which evoke the sensation of diving deep into an underwater cave.
Irish artist Shane Robinson has been a busy man of late, with standout remixes on many of Silk Textures recent releases. His offering here infuses a bit of additional rhythmic energy, as well as accentuates some of the more evocative atmospheric sounds. The "escapist" main break, which has been extended here, and the dancefloor-friendly drop stand out as the most intriguing new elements.
Finally, veteran contributor Asten slows things down with a truly outer-worldly, almost surrealist take on the original. Traces of the original are manifest in the gurgling bass, but, otherwise, this new rendering is more of a "rework," with a variety of off-kilter melodic and rhythmic effects. Perhaps the most striking sound design element is a haunting, yet beautiful combination of bell-like sounds, which appear periodically throughout the tune.
