With a passion for dance music stemming from a chance visit to the dance stage at one of Amsterdam's 'Queen's Day' events in 2005, Netherlander Jorg Murcus has made substantial waves in the world of EDM since his first remixes for Jaksa Pavicevic's, 'A Must Have' imprint in 2010. Soon after Sandji introduced him to Proton's director, Jay Epoch which, in turn, generated the "Dageraad" EP for Apollo. Further success as a Dutch competition winner saw him release "Jouissance" on Eelke Klein's, 'Outside The Box' before the highly successful "Oktober" saw his debut EP for Particles with support from Arthur Deep, Barry Jamieson and James Warren and subsequent remixes from Soulwerk, Ioan Gamboa and Monojoke.
Now Particles is extremely pleased to announce the release of another stellar original EP from Jorg Murcus entitled, "Eau de Cazeaux". Defining his own sound as "euphoric melancholy", the history and philosophy student has used all the production tools at his disposal to construct something extraordinary.
The first track "Weltater" is full of the rhythmic, deep house groove that first drew Jorg in to dance music, while a repetitive riff imprints itself on the listener's auditory cortex as it wends its way timelessly through the 5-minute piece. The percussive elements and multiple layers of effects and melodic counterpoint create further dynamism.
The title track itself brings a greater energy and a more progressive underpinning to proceedings. If anything defines Jorg's "euphoric melancholy" self-styling, "Eau de Cazeaux" certainly hits that mark. Wonderful warm sustained and overdriven melodies with subtle hints of saturation become Murcus' sound palette as he paints an aural picture or rare vivacity and contemplation. Ticking hi-hats and off-beat percussion keep the energy high as the sounds cascade effortlessly from their rhythmic anchor. This is clearly music borne of passion and impressive technique.
With Jorg Murcus at the helm, the still waters of "Eau de Cazeaux" run to inexorable depths.
