BIO FOR: Def[ez]
Belarusian musician and producer Def[ez] (aka Andrey Avtushenko) was born in Minsk in 1988. He was carried away by music at school. His music talent came out as he started to learn guitar himself. At the age of 16 he moved to the US. There with his friends he formed a punk hard core band where he was performing as a solo-guitar player. The band had several quite successful shows.
3.5 years after he returned in Belarus and for a long period gave the music up as he needed to study hard to enter the university. After 2 years break he returned to music and mostly was attracted by electronic music. His friend helped Andrey to discover such styles as Dubstep, 2step, UK Garage and show the first steps produce it. Learning himself all the nuances of composing and inspired by Burial, Scuba, Ital Tek, Club Root, Synkro he started to make his own tunes.
His music preferences got wider. Now Def[ez] is a part of 2 projects. He is the dubstep producer and the guitar player in Minsk hardcore band as well.
His debut EP «Midnight Guest» was released on non-commercial polish label 49manekinów in October, 2009. Few tracks were rotated on London’s Gutter Radio that indicates of great efforts and undoubted talent of young musician. In order to promote his tunes Def[ez] sent his track to Dead Calm Music (UK). British label found his music worth making a commercial EP which was released on July 2010 («Midnight Drive/ Influence» EP).
Andrey continued discovering his own sound and style. Now his tunes are getting more hard and complicated but still melodic. His 3rd EP absorbed the electro and hard vibe-drops sounds. VIM RECORDS (TRONIKA) label released the Unite EP in 2011 and called Def[ez] a ‘Luke Skywalker of the Dubstep’. To be continued…
