DISSECTED CULTURE DC046: NickBee - Track 01 - MIRACLES
Glitchy melodies and quick-fire snares dance lightly over the weighty low end giving the piece an unexpected transcendence. Driving through any set like a ten ton truck when it lands, Miracles shows how NickBee can work a beat. This one draws for some other side vibes with its crushed bass rolls and ethereal, half time intro. The gusto delivers some heavy eyes-down skanking material.
DISSECTED CULTURE DC046: NickBee - Track 02 - SILENT MAJORITY
Some fierce button workout business here. A delicate, skippy intro draws you forward on a half time tip, until the meaty kicks land centerfold on the drop. Alongside its gritty synth stabs and some signature quick-fire hats tapping against a stomping rhythm Silently Majority is full of mystery and counterpoint work that gives it swing as well as soul, with a hearty side of meat. This one Cobra Kai's its way through your speakers; it strikes first and strikes hard with no mercy.
With one foot set in the future and another amongst neurofunk DNB's architects, Nick's trademark sound is not easily classified. Morphing, animalistic basslines project through sonic space in perfectly organized chaos, with structure provided by painfully sharp drums. Never conforming to any set mold, NickBee's allegiance to innovation makes a quirky, experimental element a defining factor of his music. Perhaps most impressive is the young artist's mastery of next-level sound design, which is never forced or overdone; only tastefully applied in careful amounts, always striking that perfect balance of hi-tech and low-fi, a skill reserved only for experts. Examples of Nick's sonic expertise have appeared on AXON, INVISIBLE (NL), EATBRAIN (HU), BAD TASTE (UK), and DISPATCH (UK), to name a few. As this producer continues to defy formula and rewrite DNB's blueprint, it becomes clear that only one word can adequately describe this future sound of drum & bass. NickBee.
We are proud to welcome NICKBEE back to DISSECTED CULTURE with his own magical music!
