Gina Breeze (MissB DJ) hails from Manchester, a city influential in the shaping of modern day House music. Music has always been a huge part of her life having learned to play multiple instruments from an early age. Her early influences include the Motown sound of the 80’s and 90’s dance music. Her 2007 debut DJ set at Revolution set her firmly on the musical path, fuelling her drive and passion to be successful. When she was made a resident DJ at the fabulous and legendary SpeedQueen club night, her love of House Music blossomed crediting the amazing crowds and atmosphere as being second-to-none.
MissB’s gained great support culminating in an invitation to play on the G-Stage at the world-famous Glastonbury Festival in 2009. Taking place over three days in Glastonbury it is the largest green-field festival in the world, attracting leading performers in the various fields of the contemporary arts. An unforgettable experience, the festival atmosphere and vibe was infectious and one Gina wanted to be part of again.
Quite naturally, Ginas next step was into production, with MissBs Studios Limited being opened in October 2009. Her studios becoming home to all talents from vocalists, to bands, and aspiring DJs. Her appearance at BOMFest that year led to her invitation to run the MissB Dance Stage there in 2010; A huge honour for the DJ and producer . In 2011 the MissB Dance Stage was even bigger and better with her incredible light-and-sound show, with DJs playing dance music for twelve hours. This allowed MissB to showcase new and up-coming talent.
2013 brought an exciting new residency, a new underground house night known as BEATNIK! This brings together up-and-coming talent as well as some big names, with the aim of getting the old school house vibe back for fans who are devoted to house music. Her BEATNIK! residency has seen MissB grace the turntables alongside some of the industry heavyweights including Yousef, Darius Syrossain and Shenoda to name but a few.
2013 also brought MissB a new form of appreciation by winning the Parklife Festival Producer Competition. MissB beat off over 300 entries with her own killer track Dont Stop. The track was chosen by three names synonymous with house music, Heidi, Eats Everything, and Jackmaster adding confidence to any new music producer. As part of her prize, MissB followed a PointBlank production course, and is now working hard on more original music to be released in 2014.
From her beginnings with vocal uplifting house, MissB now plays and produces deeper, techier music and is constantly evolving her style, believing music should be fun and not too serious. MissB’s Dont Stop is due for release on Layers in the very near future.
